Updated EmptyOrchestra to revision 72.  This contains a number of bug fixes and feature enhancements including:

* Retries songs that don’t start correctly
* Automatically scans karaoke directory on startup
* Speeds up the karaoke scan and runs in background.  You can sing while you scan!
* If no karaoke directory is set on startup, ask the user.
* Remove cursor from karaoke window
* Adds a setup.py script to install EmptyOrchestra into the users system.
* Fix bug in wxPython where you could not select whatever was on the first row
* Improve editing meta-data

… and I’m sure a lot more.

Right-Side Lucid Lynx Buttons

Monday, July 19th in Tech

Lucid Lynx may arguably be the best version of Ubuntu yet.  However, there is one major flaw that quickly fails the all important girlfriend approval test — the unusual layout of the minimize/maximize/close buttons.  Not only does this strange design choice confuse users new and old, applications such as Google’s Chrome retain the right sided […]

FindMyRentals

Sunday, August 9th in Projects

FindMyRentals I’ve been playing around a bit with Google’s AppEngine.  So far I’ve enjoyed working with the setup, and though there are some idiosyncrasies, it still manages to take a bit of the complication out of developing and deploying an AJAXy web app. So, if you are looking for a place to rent in a currently limited […]

Turn Off Firefox “Crash” Recovery

Friday, July 24th in Tech

After updating firefox on my Ubuntu installation, I’ve noticed that firefox now attempts to restore all my tabs after I shutdown my computer. I’m kind of a tab-hoarder, I tend to open any link I might find interesting.  Maybe I’ll read them, maybe not.  I like to start with a nice clean slate every morning […]
